Just a little background info . . .
We are a very small goat operation in the very early stages of development. We have a ton to learn and we know it, so please bare with us while we figure out exactly which direction we choose to follow.
We are members of the Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR). I encourage you, if you have any interest in the history of the breed to check out their website. There is a ton of information online and registries are always a good place to start.
Fainting Goats
As for the Fainting Goats here at Briarpatch Hollow, they are a fun little project. We will be striving to produce a solid Tennessee Fainting goat, just as they were intended with good weight gain and multi purpose milk and meat production. We have slowly been breeding up and introducing new bloodlines in the effort to produce a line that can be used for family, showing, and production purposes.
We find Myotonic goats easy to handle and easy to keep compared to other breeds of goats we have raised in the past. Though curious and playful they are not nearly as destructive as some other goats. Due to their myotonia, they rarely find themselves in any kind of trouble, they are easy on fencing, and are generally mild tempered.
Our goats are raised exposed to electric fencing and livestock guardian dogs.
